kitchen, living room, and dining room are on the elevated main floor, with three additional bedrooms and flex space of the top floor. Other special features in this extraordinary home include an elevator, fireplace, a laundry room on both floors, and a dock overlooking the saltwater marshes and creeks.

“Each year Country Living brings the beauty and flexibility of country style to its House of the Year building project,” says Nancy Soriano, the magazine’s editor-in-chief.

“The scenic Islands of Beaufort community
is the ideal setting for our 2008 home. Its classic regional style and focus on comfortable living will fill readers with inspiration and ideas to incorporate in their own homes, regardless of where they live.”

The Islands of Beaufort is a tranquil private community located along Battery Creek, and, conveniently, within the Beaufort city limits. Surrounded by lush greenery, marsh and water, it’s a traditional neighborhood of Lowcountry-

style homes, accented by live oaks and island breezes. Residents gather at the charming Belle Grove Clubhouse, which offers a variety of amenities, including a fitness center, tennis courts, a pool and a playground. A limited number of deepwater, marshfront, and wooded homesites are still available in this friendly southern community. For information contact RA Steele Real Estate at 843-524-0010.

Beaufort’s own RA Steele Real Estate, will be promoting the Country Living House of the Year, and will be hosting the unveiling event and tours. House tours begin on September 14 and continue every weekend through October 28. (Hours are 11 am – 5 pm Friday and Saturday, 1 – 5 pm Sunday.) Tickets for the tour are $7 and can be purchased at the gate or at RA Steele Real Estate, 101 West St. Extension in downtown Beaufort. Proceeds from the unveiling event and the tours will benefit the

“Born to Read” program in Beaufort. “Born to Read” is a nonprofit organization, designed to encourage early literacy. Every child born at Beaufort Memorial Hospital is given a gift packet from the Born to Read Program, which includes their first book!
