Daufuskie Island Located across Calibogue Sound from Harbour Town, Daufuskie Island is home to three private developments. Reached only by ferry or boat, Daufuskie Island is a place where progress is held at bay, and the natural beauty of this historical island is protected from commercial development.

Forest Beach Forest Beach lies at the end of Pope Avenue on Hilton Head's south end and offers beachfront homes, villas, rental properties and hotels. Living at Forest Beach, you're never far away from the sound of waves hitting the shore of the Atlantic.

Separating North Forest Beach from South Forest Beach is Coligny Plaza, which conveniently offers shopping, dining and entertainment after a sun-drenched day at the beach.

The Harbour Town Marina, with its famous red and white lighthouse, hosts yachts up to 115 feet. Charming shops, restaurants and outdoor activities abound at Harbour Town.

Hilton Head Plantation One of Hilton Head Island's largest and most age- diverse residential neighborhoods is Hilton Head Plantation, spread over 4,000 acres between the Intercostals Waterway and Port Royal Sound. It is home to the Country Club of Hilton Head's semi-private 18-hole golf course, designed by Rees Jones. Jones also designed the plantation's award-winning Oyster Reef Golf Course and Bear Creek Golf Course. The plantation has a fourth, private course called Dolphin Head.

In addition to its plentiful golf options, the plantation provides access to two miles of beach, a community recreation center, shared gardening area, numerous swimming pools and tennis courts, Skull Creek Marina, and the Old Fort Pub restaurant.

Two nature conservancies possess beautiful, lengthy nature trails and boardwalks through marshlands. Residents can walk across a narrow strip of land connecting the plantation to Pine Island, an approximately 30-acre stretch of preserved land

surrounded by beach.

The land planning efforts of HHP have resulted in a "small neighborhood" feel. Choose a home in one of the many secluded enclaves such as Ribaut Island, estate homes with marsh and water views.

Villas, many town homes and even the Cypress Retirement community help HHP offer choices to suit any age. Home prices from $200s to several million.

Indigo Run Indigo Run has recently been named "A Top Ten Community For Baby Boomers," and for good reasons. This community is the youngest on Hilton head Island, the homes are newer, the architecture is fresher, the amenities well planned and the neighborhoods more receptive to new families. Its 1,712 acres are located at the island's north end, directly across Highway 278 from Hilton Head Plantation.

Indigo Run boasts two fine Nicklaus golf courses, including the first and only Jack and Jack II collaboration. A variety of golf memberships are available, including private course and club at The Golf Club at Indigo Run. Residents also enjoy the Sunningdale Park recreation center with a junior Olympic pool, hard-surface tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, and an award-winning playground. Miles of leisure trails wind through the community, and with no resort accommodations, the pace here is unhurried.

Long Cove Golf Digest magazine has rated Long Cove Club's private golf course, designed by Pete Dye, the number one course in South Carolina for the last ten years. A membership to this challenging golf course is included with ownership in Long Cove Club.

Residents also enjoy deep-water access to Broad Creek from the community's boat docks.

In the 1980s, the plantation's developers chose to carefully preserve the area's live oaks, magnolia and palmetto palm trees, which create a serene wooded environment.

The plantation is situated between Yacht Cove and Wexford Plantation toward the island's south end. You will find choices in lots from the $200s and homes from the $400s.

Palmetto Dunes This popular resort and residential community is located mid-island, sitting on 1,800 well preserved acres.

The entrance to Palmetto Dunes is across Highway 278 from Shelter Cove Harbour. Inside its guarded gates are three miles of world-famous Atlantic Ocean beaches, 11 miles of winding lagoons, and one of the largest tennis centers on the island, Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center, with 25 courts.

Palmetto Dunes is also home to the Hilton Resort and the Hilton Head Marriott Beach and Golf Resort. Its three public, 18-hole golf courses were designed by PGA favorites George Fazio, Robert Trent Jones and Arthur Hills.

The community ranges from year-round residents to weekend visitors, due to the diverse housing opportunities that exist within the gates of Palmetto Dunes. Prices range from the $200s upward to million dollar town homes and private oceanfront homes.
